The Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Environment oversees the development and implementation of the national strategy for the development of renewable energies. It participates, in collaboration with the organizations concerned, in the preparation and application of legislation and regulations in this area. In this context,it is in charge of:

•  Ensuring the monitoring of the evaluation of national resources for the development of renewable energies and their updating, particularly for the development of the solar and wind atlas;
•  Ensuring, in collaboration with the organizations concerned, the development of site maps that can house renewable energy production facilities;
•   Developing a multi-year plan for the development of renewable energies and ensuring its implementation;
•  Ensuring the mobilization and regularization of the property intended to house renewable public-interest electricity generating facilities;
• Monitoring the promotion of the use of renewable energies in the different socio-economic sectors;
•  Ensuring the encouragement of the participation of local engineering and industry in the conducting of studies and manufacturing of equipment in the field of renewable energies, in collaboration with the organizations concerned;
•  Developing and implementing, in collaboration with the organizations concerned, projects and cooperation actions in the field of renewable energies ;
•  Contributing to the promotion of research and development, technological innovation, and transfer of technology in the field of renewable energies.
